The city's motto is "München mag Dich" ("Munich Likes You"), before 2006, it was "Weltstadt mit Herz" (world city with heart). Munich is a also a major European cultural centre and the domain of many prominent composers including Orlando di Lasso, W.A. Mozart, Carl Maria von Weber, Richard Wagner, Gustav Mahler, Richard Strauss, Max Reger and Carl Orff.
